Sainte-Anne and the Caravelle beach
The Caravelle beach, in Sainte-Anne, is often ranked among the loveliest in the archipelago: a shallow lagoon, fine sand, lined coconut palms. People happily meet here in the late afternoon, when the colours grow warmer. The village of Sainte-Anne then stretches the evening with its craft market and small seafront restaurants. Two ti-punches, a few accras to share, and conversation flows on its own.
Le Gosier and its islet
Between Pointe-à-Pitre and Sainte-Anne, Le Gosier is a favourite with couples. From the beach, a short ferry trip reaches the Gosier islet and its lighthouse: a mini-expedition that changes from the usual drink on a terrace. On the way back, the seaside restaurants invite you to stretch the afternoon, hair still a touch salty and a smile on your face.
Pointe des Châteaux, at the far end of the island
At the eastern tip of Grande-Terre, Pointe des Châteaux offers a grand panorama, between Atlantic-battered cliffs and the cross watching over the horizon. A short path leads to the summit, perfect for a shared high point. On Lyad, members from Guadeloupe share their favourite beaches and good addresses; it is up to you to find someone to explore with.
